O Oriens (Dayspring)

pp dayspring

LATIN: O Oriens, splendor lucis aeternae, et sol iustitiae: veni, et illumina sedentes in tenebris et umbra mortis.

ENGLISH: O dawn of the east, brightness of light eternal, and sun of justice: come, and enlighten those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.

My days are dark, Lord. Too often, I find myself surrounded by sin and sorrow, in the news, in my daily life, and in my personal relationships. Help me to know and long for the truth and light that can only come from you. Give me strength to reject the darkness and hold fast to you. Amen.
